EKOTA CUP MATCH REPORT – Fearless Lions of West Ham Sunday 2nd XI vs Essex Panthers CC 2nd XI

A very satisfying result for the side as the first match of the 2026 season, with the team producing a disciplined all-round performance to secure a 4-wicket win against chasing down 172 in 29 overs after restricting to 171/8 from 40 overs.

After losing the toss and being asked to field, the bowlers responded exactly as required. We stayed patient, kept the pressure on through the middle overs, and took wickets regularly enough to stop Essex Panthers building any major partnerships. Tarikul Islam’s spell was outstanding — 2 for 19 from 8 overs, including a maiden, gave us real control and created pressure that the opposition struggled to break. Saidul Islam also made key breakthroughs with 2 wickets, while Parvez Ali, Murad Chowdhury, and Ahmed Faruqee all contributed important overs.

The fielding effort was equally important. Energy stayed high throughout the innings, chances were taken well, and we limited boundaries in key periods. That collective discipline ensured the target remained within reach.

In the chase, we knew the target was achievable if we batted with composure. Although wickets fell at intervals, the run rate stayed under control because we rotated strike well and punished loose deliveries. Fuzail Joni’s 37 off 30 balls gave us momentum early, while Saidul Islam’s unbeaten 36 provided calm and control when needed most. Jaya Adaikkan also played an important finishing role to help close out the game comfortably.

One of the biggest positives was how the team managed pressure after each wicket. Nobody forced the game unnecessarily, partnerships rebuilt well, and the innings stayed in our control throughout.

Overall, this was a strong team performance built on discipline, patience, and good decision-making in key moments. Winning with 11 overs to spare reflects how well the group executed the plan. Plenty to build on going into the next fixture. 💪🏆

With very crucial runs and wickets contribution, Saidul Islam was deservedly awarded man of the match for this match. #MatchDay#cricket

Match Report by Syed Rabbani :

FLOW Sultans vs. FLOW Royal
The FLOW Sultans put on a masterclass of aggressive batting, setting a massive target that left the FLOW Royal reeling under the pressure. It was a tale of two innings: one defined by a historic individual performance and the other by a disciplined bowling hunt.
The Sultans' Charge: The Ali Show
The Sultans' innings began with early tremors as Amir tore through the top order, dismissing both Parvez and Joni for ducks. However, the ship was steadied by Rabbani (33) and Shimul (29), providing the platform for what would become an absolute carnage.
The headline of the day belonged to Ali, who played a legendary knock. He smashed a blistering 127 runs off just 46 balls, boasting a strike rate of 276.09. His innings was decorated with 10 fours and 10 sixes, effectively taking the game away from the Royal bowlers. Despite a valiant effort from Toriqul, who finished with figures of 4/34, the Sultans posted a daunting total of 309 all out in 33.4 overs.
The Royal Struggle: Sultans Tighten the Noose
Chasing a target that required consistent aggression, the FLOW Royal found themselves suffocated by a clinical bowling unit. The Sultans' bowlers gave nothing away, with Wajid leading the charge by taking 2 wickets for just 4 runs in his 3-over spell.
The Royal batting lineup struggled to find momentum:
* Leon provided a brief spark with 11 runs off 10 balls.
* Iffti played a patient 19 off 34 balls, but couldn't find the boundary frequently enough.
* Fahim chipped in with 2 wickets for 9 runs, further denting the chase.
By the 17th over, the Royal were struggling at 74/6, with the required run rate climbing to impossible heights.

Final Result
The match was ultimately decided by the intervention of the elements. With the Royal significantly behind the required rate at the time of the stoppage:
In DLS method, the winner is FLOW Sultans.
